"it's you."

that's what a jolly little fourth grader named zachary told me as he held up this picture. he then folded it several times and stuffed it in my pocket. despite having a mouth like a chain saw, i do have the proper number of digits and a pretty sweet camera if i must say. a little leggy i guess, wait a second, i got no ears. well, nobody is perfect.

kids kids and more kids.

yesterday it was gymnastics, today i was hanging out with a couple of lunch ladies, woo hoo! seriously it was kind of fun. i realized how much i miss square pizza and hair nets. too bad it was nacho day. as for gymnastics i don't see how those girls don't bust their ass more often.

a sip won't hurt.

i've heard that line a lot when it comes to parents giving their kids alcohol. our paper is doing a multiple story project on drug and alcohol addiction amongst teenagers, but of course it's midland and nobody wants to publicly admit their problems. so it was my job to shoot an illustration that depicted the idea. this was the outcome. i never shoot illustrations, but i didn't think it turned out too bad for shooting it in a dinning room.

answers.

to answer a couple of questions from comments from the last two pictures:
to brad, i think the info was f3.2, 1/30th, at 6400iso. the light on his face is from my headlights and the light on his hands is from a dome light.
to jesse, i didn't have the guts to give her my number and well, at least i went home alone. not sure if she scored a date.

D3, ISO 6400.

that shit aint no lie. kevin called me last night around 11p.m. telling me he had just slid into a ditch. that might not sound serious, but in michigan ditches have been known to swallow cars, livestock, and large children. luckily he and his car were alright, despite his hurt pride (he hasn't had the best of luck behind the wheel lately). so as he wrote a check for the tow truck i put the new camera to the test and made a few frames at the crazy iso of 6400. it holds up pretty nicely. maybe nikon isn't such a dumb bastard after all. kevin on the other hand, SYKE! just kidding buddy.

cruisin' bridge for chicks.

i hit the local bridge game today looking for a feature. i was welcomed with open arms and invitations for dates within the first minute. Roberta, at left, was the most charming and persuasive, jokingly hinting to needing a tall dark and hansom man and later asking for my number.

fog.

this is what happens when the temperature gets above 40 degrees and you have six inches of snow on the ground.

trespassing.

tres•pass - a wrongful entry upon the lands of another.
it didn't feel so wrongful. as i walked on the broken glass of old mason jars i couldn't help daydreaming about what it must have been like to live in this tiny house and work the land next to the pine river. i love simplicity.
