the bar.
"you cant' look at the bar because then you will aim for it. you have to look past it,"
bobbie curran, a pole vaulter from a local high school, said this to me while talking about pole vaulting. i don't think she realized how profound it sounded or how perfect it was for her story. bobbie decided in her senior year to start pole vaulting, something she hadn't done since grade school. her school doesn't have a vaulting pit so she travels across town to another school to practice. her personal best height is 8 feet. coincidentally that height was among the top two in her region qualifying her to go to state. the catch is that the opening height for state is 8 feet 6 inches.

love and honor.
i hung out with marth albrecht yesterday. she is 95 and a really sweet lady. this is her husband william howard taft albrecht. she said she thinks he might have been named after the president. wonder what gave her that idea. anyway tyler taught me a thing or two about toning. hopefully i'm giving as much knowledge as i'm receiving.

brighter future.
so i tried to steer clear of the usual hug pictures you get from graduation. this is what i came up with. it didn't come together as i would have liked and i'm sure the entire graduating class, which was behind me in this hallway, was wondering why i was patiently crouched looking at a wall of empty glass doors. i still wound up with hug pictures too.
