that's what one of the signs hanging by the pool said. i hadn't shot swimming in a long time until tonight. i forgot how hot it is and just how wet you get. my shoes are still soaked hours later.
i saw bud and kevin standing behind their work truck from a distance as i passed memorial gardens cemetery in my car the other day while looking for a feature. it's one of those times when you kick yourself in the balls and force yourself to turn around despite feeling funny and a little disrespectful. truth is they were more than okay with me being there and taking pictures. i didn't realize bud only had one leg until the moment i shot that frame. i didn't even notice the limp, hell it doesn't effect his grave digging abilities. the guys explained to me that they don't normally hand dig graves, but that this one was for a set of stillborn twins and the coffin was small. both admitted that children's funerals are the toughest.
i shoot sports sometimes. dow beat midland (they're big cross town rivals) for the first time in four years. ol' fist pumper there scored the game's only goal.
as most of you know, i spent the last week in guatemala. it was everything i could have imagined and far more. seriously, it was a great experience that i'm still soaking in. these pictures don't even come close to doing it justice, but they are the extension of my index finger and the little voice inside my head that says "now damnit, now." to megan, thank you so very much for the amazing journey.
that boys and girls is exactly how not to shoot a portrait. who ever said two wrongs don't make a right. i actually drew those crazy curtains on pupose and oddly enough i kind of like it even if it is bad. the rest are other picture i've made so far in october. i'm heading to guatemala in a few days so hopefully i'll have some interesting stuff to put up later.
